How to watch the Euro 2020 Final for free: Live stream England vs Italy in the Euro 2020 Final

Watch England vs Italy for free in the Euro 2020 Final live from anywhere in the world tonight

Here we go! It’s England vs Italy in the Euro 2020 Final tonight (Sunday, 11 July 2021). Kickoff is at 8pm, live from Wembley Stadium in London, with free UK coverage on BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub from 7pm. If you’re travelling abroad, you can access the streaming service for free using a good VPN service, like ExpressVPN.

England have reached the Final of an international men’s football tournament after 55 long years. The Three Lions now face the unstoppable Azzurri in Sunday’s high-octane Final in front of thousands of home supporters at London’s Wembley Stadium. Gareth Southgate’s team will be hoping to repay the millions of football fans who have optimistically sung “It’s Coming Home” for years now. This time they firmly believe it!

Both England and Italy needed extra time to get over their semi-final hurdles and progress to the Final. Italy needed a penalty shootout to determine their fate against Spain, while Harry Kane converted a rebounded penalty save in extra-time against Denmark after the scores were level at 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Getting past Italy won’t be easy though as Roberto Mancini’s men haven’t been beaten in a football tournament in 33 games (about three years). Unlike England, Italy have won every game in this tournament scoring 12 goals and conceding just three.

In comparison, England topped their group after winning two games and drawing to neighbours Scotland, but what’s impressive is that they’ve only conceded one goal in the tournament so far – the free-kick against Denmark, which was too good for even Jordan Pickford’s otherwise safe pair of hands.

England have scored 10 goals in the tournament and skipper Harry Kane is one goal away from matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of five goals this tournament. Two goals on Sunday and he’ll win the Euro 2020 Golden Boot – not to mention go down in English history, with a possible knighthood on the cards if he leads the team to victory.

  • England defeated Denmark 2-1 in extra time.

For those of you wondering, the month-long football tournament retains the name “UEFA Euro 2020”, despite taking place this year. Unlike previous Euro tournaments that were hosted by a specific country, Euro 2020 is being hosted by 11 different nations. This is a one-off gesture to celebrate the 60th birthday of the European Championship competition.

24 teams participated in this year’s competition, with teams divided into six groups each. Each venue has a limited number of fans in attendance. Apart from hosting all of England’s games in the group stages, Wembley Stadium in London will also host the Euro 2020 semi-finals and finals.

After its continued successful implementation in club football across the world in the last few years, VAR is making its debut for Euro 2020. Apart from this, the tournament also has Covid-19 specific rules and protocols in place that every team must adhere to.

Football fans have an action-packed June and July to look forward to because Copa America 2021 is taking place in Brazil around the same time as Euro 2020, with the Copa America Final between Brazil and Argentina taking place less than 24 hours before the Euro 2020 Final. Like Euro 2020, the Copa America Final is available to watch for free on BBC Red Button and BBC iPlayer in the UK. The football tournaments will be immediately followed by the Tokyo Olympics 2021, which start on 23 July.

England’s road to the Euro 2020 Final

England topped their group after winning games against Croatia and Czech Republic (both by one goal) and drawing their game against neighbours, Scotland. They then delivered their best game of the tournament winning 2-0 against Germany in the Round of 16 Knockout fixture. In the quarter-final against Ukraine, they put on another dazzling display scoring four goals in their first (and only) game away from Wembley Stadium.

Denmark was England’s biggest challenge in the semi-final as they scored the only goal that England conceded in this tournament. Facing adversity for the first time, England responded by forcing an own-goal that Raheem Sterling was waiting to convert. In extra-time, Harry Kane was alert enough to put in the rebound after Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel saved his penalty but couldn’t hold on to the ball.

The Three Lions have now advanced to their first men’s international football final in a generation. The last time they won the tournament was the 1966 FIFA World Cup, where they beat West Germany 4-2 in extra time. Coincidentally, England’s last win came at home, which should be comforting news for Southgate’s team as he’ll have a full stadium of Wembley supporters behind his team on Sunday night.
