How to watch the Hungarian Grand Prix 2020
This weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring will be the third F1 race in as many weeks to start the delayed 2020 season
The first two races of the F1 season – both in Austria – have seen two different Mercedes winners. Lewis Hamilton was demoted from second to fourth position in the opening race that his teammate Valtteri Bottas won, but the Brit returned to winning ways in the Styrian Grand Prix last weekend.
This weekend the action moves to Hungary for the third race of the season. It also happens to be Hamilton’s happy hunting ground. The defending Formula 1 Champion has won a record seven races at Hungaroring, including three of the last four.
If he wins again Hungary, the six-time F1 Champion will become just the second driver after Michael Schumacher to win eight races at a single Grand Prix. It seems to be a fitting record given that Hamilton is looking to draw level with Schumi’s seven F1 Championships with a win this season.
This weekend marks just the second time in F1 history that races are taking place on three successive weekends. Of course, this is because of the coronavirus pandemic that led to a sixteen-week delay of the start of the F1 season and a complete redo of the regular F1 2020 calendar.
Red Bull Racing appears to be Mercedes’ closest challenger this season, with McLaren and Racing Point close behind. Ferrari’s problems were highlighted last weekend when Charles Leclerc clattered into Sebastian Vettel causing both drivers to retire from the race.
Following this weekend’s Grand Prix, the F1 calendar will see its first break this season. The two-week break will be followed by two Grands Prix on successive weekends in Britain’s Silverstone circuit on the first two weekends of August. This will be immediately followed by the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

How to watch the Hungarian Grand Prix in the UK: Now TV Sports Pass
Even though Sky TV is the best option to watch every race this season on your TV, adding Sky Sports can involve additional charges and contracts usually last for 18 months, if not more. If you’d rather not commit to such a long contract, or just want to watch select races and sporting events, the best way is with a Now TV Sky Sports Pass.
Now TV offers a selection of passes based on what you want to watch; to watch the Austrian Grand Prix, you’ll need a Sky Sports Pass. You can get a Day Pass for £10 but this limits streaming quality to 720p. A better option is to subscribe to the Monthly Pass. Even though it costs £34, you can watch multiple races – and tons of other sports – in full HD coverage and three people can stream content on their device at the same time.
How to watch the Hungarian Grand Prix in the UK: Sky Sports
Sky Sports will broadcast the Hungarian Grand Prix via its Sky Sports F1 channel. You can’t watch this without a Sky Sports subscription but there are a number of options to choose from to get access. If you’re keen to watch more than a couple of F1 races, and are also interested in other sports including football and golf, we’d recommend signing up for a Sky Q box and getting the Sky Sports Channels as part of a package. For new customers, a Sky Q box on its own costs £22/mth for 18 months, plus a £20 setup fee.
The Sky Sports package, which includes all eight of its sports channels, is then £22/mth for the same contract length. Existing customers can upgrade to the Sky Sports package but it will cost them £30/mth, rather than £23.
You can, alternatively, just sign up for a Sky Sports F1 channel for £10/mth on top of your Sky Q package and this price is for both new and existing customers. If you’re new to Sky and want to get Sky TV and Sky Sports F1, you can get them both for just £35/mnth.
The benefit of getting a Sky Q package, beyond access to 300 other Sky TV channels, is it’s the only way to watch Sky Sports in Ultra HD, as long as you have an Ultra HD-ready TV. Sky Q viewers can also watch F1 in split-screen mode, meaning you can go on board with a driver on one window while watching the main race on another.

As has been the case for the last four years, Channel 4 will air race highlights from every Grand Prix throughout the 2020 season. You can access these via the All 4 player on your laptop, mobile or other devices, or through the All 4 app on your TV box.
