Dell has revealed its first Chromebook laptop, the Chromebook 11, which will go on sale in January - just in time for the new school term

Dell has officially announced its first Chromebook. The Chromebook 11, not to be confused with HP's laptop of the same name, is aimed at students and teachers and is due to go on sale in the UK just in time for the new school term.

With an 11.6in, 1,366x768 resolution display, 4th Generation Intel Celeron 2955U processor, 2GB or 4GB of RAM depending on specification and 16GB of solid state storage, Dell isn't going up against Google's own high-end Chromebook Pixel - instead, it will compete with HP and the Acer C7 at the entry-level.

The 1.3kg laptop is less than an inch thick, so should be perfectly portable for taking on the school run. Dell has yet to announce a price for the 4GB model, which will be arriving in early January - the 2GB model will follow afterwards. Both will be available directly from www.dell.com.
