How to watch the NBA: Live stream every game of the 2021-2022 season online anywhere

Here's how to watch every dribble and dunk of the 2021-2022 season online anywhere in the world

The NBA is celebrating its 75th anniversary edition this year as it resumes a full 82-game season for the first time since the pandemic broke out in March 2020. The best way to watch every single game of the 2021-2022 NBA season is to buy an NBA League Pass. Alternatively, if you live in the UK, you can watch marquee NBA games on Sky Sports and Now TV Sky Sports Pass.

Similarly, DAZN broadcasts live coverages of the games in most of continental Europe, while Australian streaming service Kayo Sports broadcasts games Down Under. We've written more about each of these services in detail below and you can access all of the above streaming platforms from outside the country by using a good VPN service, like ExpressVPN.

Defending NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks will be hoping to retain their NBA title where they will face stiff competition in the East from the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers and from the West from the likes of last year's finalists Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets and full-strength Golden State Warriors.

The biggest trades made this off-season include Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat, Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers and Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan to the Chicago Bulls. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers resigned Kawhi Leonard and the Phoenix Suns re-signed Chris Paul. It's unclear when Leonard will return to the Clippers' line-up as he is recovering from an injury. Speaking about injuries, Warriors guard Klay Thomson will return to the line-up at some point this season after missing two whole seasons.

The 82-game NBA regular season gets underway on 19 October and will go on until 10 April 2022. The Play-in tournament - for teams ranked 7th to 10th in each conference - will then take place from 12-15 April, after which the 2022 NBA Playoffs will get underway from 16 April until the 2022 NBA Champion is crowned on 2 June 2022. This is obviously subject to no more disruptions that have happened at different points over the past year and a half.

How to watch the NBA online: NBA League Pass

One of the best things about US sports is that they all have their own subscription streaming services, and the NBA is no exception. The only way to follow all the 72 regular-season games is by subscribing to the NBA League Pass. This lets you stream live coverage on any device.

Apart from live broadcasts of every NBA game, you can watch interviews, pre and post-game analysis as well as live stats and news on other happenings around the NBA. You can also download games to watch offline once they have taken place.

NBA League Pass has different subscription plans. You can either pay £25/mnth or £180/year to watch every single game of the 2020-2021 season. Alternatively, you can pay £100 for a team pass, which gives you access to every single game for any one team throughout the 2021-2022 season.

It's worth mentioning that this NBA League Pass price differs based on which country you live in. It's much cheaper in South-East Asian countries where you can subscribe to the service for a fraction of the price you pay to watch it in the West.

How to watch the NBA in the UK: Sky Sports

Sky Sports is heading into another year of partnership with the NBA and their four-year broadcast deal to provide full coverage of the NBA and the WNBA in the UK. The only disadvantage for UK viewers is that most live games are broadcast in the early hours of the morning to coincide with the time difference between the UK and the USA.

However, if you have a Sky box at home you can record the matches and watch them later at your convenience. Sky Sports also airs repeat games the next day without media breaks or pregame commentary so you can enjoy a condensed version of any match-up and get straight to the action.

Sky Sports charges an extra £23/mth on top of your existing Sky contract and provides you with other sports channels so you can get coverage of other sporting events. They also provide free coverage online through the SkySport app or the SkySports website.

How to watch the NBA abroad: use a good VPN service

The NBA League Pass, Sky Sports, Now TV and all the channels that stream the NBA in the US are geo-blocked, meaning you won’t be able to watch live NBA games outside the country unless you use a reputable VPN service. VPNs work by tricking your domain into thinking you’re in a different country.

In this way, you’ll be able to stream content through channels that may not be available in the country where you reside. While there are many free VPNs, they won’t let you unblock streaming services. Other paid VPN services are too slow. The last thing you want is to watch Giannis or LeBron charging through the defence and then see the buffer sign. With this in mind, there’s only a few VPN services that we wholeheartedly recommend for streaming the NBA.
