Roomba deal: Lowest ever price on the robot vacuum

And that's not the only robot vacuum deal this Black Friday

If you’re fed up with vacuuming every few days and want someone else to take over, you may have considered making that somebody a Roomba.

Well, good news: The iRobot Roomba 981 is now the cheapest it’s ever been on Amazon, reduced to £522.36 from its original price of £774.25.

Should you buy it? Well, with the Roomba, there’s a certain amount of paying for the brand name, though the 980 still appears on our list of the best robot vacuum cleaners you can buy (the 981 appears to be the same as far as we can tell, just a regional difference). It uses cameras to navigate the home, and it’s skinny enough to get under furniture. Neatly, it can up the power input when it detects it’s going over carpet for a better finish.

But it’s not our favourite: that’s the Neato Botvac D7 Connected, which itself isn’t a huge upgrade on the D5 Connected – currently available for £573.25 at Amazon. Its squared-off front makes it that bit better at getting into tight corners, in our tests.

Neither of these are cheap, of course. But our favourite mid-ranger – the Eufy Robot Vacuum 30c – is down to £170 at Amazon. That’s a decent reduction on its usual £290 price and a solid choice if you’re unsure about robot vacuums. As we wrote in our roundup: “If you’re looking to dip your toe in the water of automatic vacuum cleaning but don’t want to spend in the region of £500, this is the next best thing.”

Still, for some only a Roomba will do, and if that’s the case then £522.36 remains a good price for the iRobot Roomba 981. Either way, your dust-cleaning days are mercifully over.
