It’s that time of year again. Thousands of viewers will be cosying up to watch their favourite guilty pleasure show, as I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns to our screens once more. If you don’t want to miss out on all the action, here’s a quick guide on how to watch the show from wherever you are.
As ever, those tuning in from the UK will be able to watch the show for free every night from 9pm on ITV2 or the ITV Hub. Set in the Aussie outback, the show brings together ten to twelve celebrities who are all competing to win the illustrious title of King or Queen of The Jungle. They do this by winning over the hearts of the British public whose votes decide their fate in the competition.
Alongside the day-to-day sleeping in hammocks, cleaning the infamous dunny and fighting off countless creepy crawlies, one lucky member from this group of celebs will be taking part in daily challenges to collect stars and win food for the camp. These involve a wide range of wholesome activities, like laying in a pitch-black coffin filled with snakes, getting covered in cockroaches, and most notably eating various genitalia from different Aussie animals. If they lose the challenge, they and the rest of the camp will be surviving on a diet of rice and beans until the next day.
Usually, the lucky celebrity to complete the challenge is chosen by a public vote, which means that the most hated, or the most squeamish contestant often gets nominated every day. This bodes well for this year’s most talked about contestant, Matt Hancock, the MP for West Suffolk, for reasons that will be obvious to anyone living in the UK right now.
Are there any changes coming to I’m a Celebrity 2022?
Having been confined to a Gwrych Castle in Wales for the previous two years as a result of the pandemic, fans were delighted to learn that the show would be returning to its iconic Aussie jungle set this year. That means the return of classic I’m a Celebrity icons like the Outback Shack, jungle theming and dingo dollars. We can’t wait to see how the set has been updated after the break.
Who presents I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of here?
As with most previous seasons of I’m a Celeb, this year’s show will be presented by the iconic comedy duo, Ant and Dec. Since its debut season in 2002, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have hosted every season, apart from in 2018, when Holly Willoughby hosted the show alongside Donnelly whilst McPartlin received care in rehab.
The pair have also presented on shows such as Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and the Brit Awards. They’re so successful, in fact, that they received a Guinness world record for winning the most consecutive National Television Awards; that’s a whopping 18 years in a row. Anyone who has seen I’m a Celebrity will agree that the show would not be the same without Ant and Dec’s hilarious running commentary both in the trials and on set.
Which celebrities are on the line-up this year?
After much speculation, it was unveiled that the ten celebrities jetting off to the outback are: actors Sue Cleaver and Owen Warner, singer Boy George and comedian Babatúndé Aléshé. Sports personalities Jill Scott MBE and Mike Tindall MBE will also be abandoning their comfortable lives to compete in the totally new game that is I’m a Celeb.
Alongside these, there will be a range of TV personalities and presenters, including, Scarlette Douglas, Chris Moyles, Charlene White, and Olivia Attwood. Whilst they’re all used to being on camera, being filmed 24/7 in the jungle will be a huge shift from normality.
Whilst he’s not in the initial cast of ten this year, MP Matt Hancock will be joining the show at a later date – presumably to escape his day job in parliament. At this stage, we’re all familiar with Hancock’s tumultuous time as health secretary during the pandemic, and we’re sure he’ll bring loads of steamy drama to the show – after all, we’ve seen how well he *cough* performs under close surveillance from cameras.

UK viewers will be glad to know that they can watch I’m a Celebrity for free on ITV and ITV hub at 9pm every evening, as long as they have an up-to-date TV license.
