How to watch UFC 239: Jon Jones vs Thiago Santos and Amanda Nunes vs Holly Holm

Two titles are on the line as UFC 239 takes tonight. Here’s how to watch it wherever you are

UFC 239 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada tonight. The event will have two main headlining title fights.

The main event of the night will be for the Light Heavyweight Title bout, where Jon Jones will aim to defend his title against Thiago Santos.

Jones, a three-time UFC champion, is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional fighters of all time, but retaining his title will be anything but easy against the Brazilian Santos who is second in the UFC light heavyweight rankings.

In tonight’s co-headlining event, current UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion, Amanda Nunes, will aim to defend her title against former champion Holly Holm.

Nunes is the first woman in UFC history to become a two-division champion and to hold two titles simultaneously. She’s currently both the women’s bantamweight and featherweight titleholder. The Brazilian mixed martial artist will make it nine straight wins in a row if she wins on Saturday evening.

But she’s fighting someone who’s taken down a world champion before. Holly Holm will best be remembered as the person who defeated UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey and marked her subsequent decline from the sport.

Coincidentally, Rousey later lost to Nunes via TKO just 48 seconds into the first round, so this can be a historic fight between two deserving fighters.

Their fight will be preceded by Ben Askren vs Jorge Masvidal. Undefeated Askren has been personally calling out Masvidal for months, so this could be an exciting clash between “Funky” Ben and “Gamebred” Masvidal.

Signing up to BT Sport can be a little daunting: there are no fewer than eight routes in, including via mobile providers such as EE and ISPs like Virgin Media. Fortunately, we have a guide to watching BT Sport that covers the process in more detail.

If you have BT TV, however, you’re in luck as BT Sport is already included in the company’s TV bundles. If you’re just a broadband customer, it’ll cost you between £10 and £15 per month.

There is a three-month free trial that you can make the most of, though. Sky TV and TalkTalk TV customers can upgrade to BT Sport, starting from £25 per month, with a one-off payment of £20 a month upfront on a one-year contract.

BT Sport often has offers running, including one that lets you get BT Sport for three months with selected packages. All offers include the BT Sport App that lets you watch live sport on all of your devices.

How to watch UFC 239 wherever you are: use a VPN

Both BT Sport and ESPN+ are geo-restricted, meaning you won’t be able to watch the two UFC 239 title fights if you’re away from the country when the event is broadcast on Saturday/Sunday. The only way to mitigate this is to use a virtual private network or VPN.

These services not only encrypt all your traffic as you browse the web but also let you access geo-blocked content. This means you can simply choose which country you want to browse from and the VPN will trick your device into thinking it is actually located in that country.
