Samsung has announced its 2014 line-up of Smart TV content, which will include high profile games like Need for Speed Most Wanted

Samsung has confirmed the first details of its Smart TV announcements due at next month's IFA trade show in Berlin, revealing that owners of Samsung TVs with Smart Hub will soon be able to download an updated version of Skype and three high-profile games.

Skype has been an inclusion on Samsung smart TVs for years, but the latest version will add group video support and full HD video calling to all 2014 Samsung Smart TVs with built-in cameras. It should come as a welcome update to anyone that's used Skype through their TV in the past, but it's the new games line-up that should prove a little more exciting.

So far, Samsung has revealed EA's Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Real Football 2014 from Gameloft and Golf Star, which will all be available for free on release. All three games will be playable using the standard Samsung Smart Control remote bundled with your TV, a dedicated Samsung Gamepad, or a Samsung smartphone or tablet like the Galaxy S5.

Essentially adapted versions of existing Android games, it remains to be seen how all three titles have been adapted for physical, rather than touchscreen controls.

"The content available through TVs is more varied than ever before, and at Samsung we are committed to ensuring that we can provide the best breadth of content possible for every user, whatever their interests may be”, Doug D’Souza, Samsung UK's Strategic Content Manger, said of the announcement. "It has never been easier for our customers to discover even more entertaining and easy-to-use content on their Samsung Smart TVs which is enhanced by the fantastic picture quality on Samsung’s TV screens."

All of the apps released at IFA will be available to download globally for free through the Smart Hub interface.
