Save 40% on the excellent Garmin Forerunner 245 running watch

Perfect for shedding the Holiday pounds with a running programme

As a casual but regular runner, the Garmin Forerunner 245 is, for me, in the sweet spot of price against functionality. I’m not just saying that: I bought one myself a few years ago for £190, and haven’t regretted the purchase one bit.

And now you can get the brilliant running watch for even less thanks to a solid Black Friday deal from Amazon. The watch has a RRP of £250, but usually hovers around the £220 mark, historically dropping as low as £175. But now it’s lower than ever, and can be had for just £150 at Amazon in both the black and berry colour schemes (if neither appeal, it’s easy to swap out the strap).

Mine has been a reliable running companion ever since I bought it in December 2019, with a solid GPS and built-in training programmes to get you up to speed if your pace suffered during lockdown (mine certainly did.)

I especially like the Performance Condition feature, which gives you a real-time readout of your body’s metrics compared to your average fitness level after five minutes of activity. But even before you lace up, the Body Battery score will let you know how much energy you have, and whether today is likely to be a good day to hit the gym hard or not. The customisable face – which allows you to display up to four metrics on a single screen – is also fabulous.

“It’s a brilliant all-round running watch, and runners who won’t be satisfied by its features will be few and far between,” wrote our reviewer Nick Harris-Fry in his five-star review. “Not only does it help shape your training, providing useful insight into every run, but it also delivers excellent accuracy in terms of both GPS and heart rate, along with superb battery life.”

I can’t argue with any of that. I’d only add that with £100 off, it’s an absolute steal, and worth every penny if you’re a runner looking to track your progress in style.
