Top 10 paid-for iPhone apps
Posted on 2 Aug 2010 at 12:40
Over the past few weeks, we’ve covered our top free and paid-for Android apps, as well as our favourite free iPhone apps. Today we're rounding up our top 10 paid for iPhone apps. All of the apps can be downloaded from Apple's App Store either on your device or in iTunes - just search for the names we've listed to find them.
Spotify
Technically, Spotify is a free app, but you'll need to be a Premium user (which costs £9.99 a month) in order to listen to music. The app lets you listen to tracks over 3G or WiFi, plus store music on your phone for offline listening.
You can create your own playlists and search through thousands of tracks to find the music that you want to listen to. Your account means that you can listen to music on any supported device, such as your desktop PC, too.
Simply put, Spotify is the best streaming music service and the iPhone app is a great way to get access to all of that music. It's pretty much replaced the iPod app on some Expert Reviews staff members' handsets and if that's not a glowing recommendation, we don't know what is.
Weather Pro
If you find that the iPhone's built in Weather app isn't detailed enough for your requirements then the best alternative we've found is Weather Pro, which costs £2.39. Having tried the Met Office's own app, we were pleasantly surprised by just how advanced Weather Pro was.
It includes a seven day forecast, which has three-hourly updates with detailed information like actual temperature, 'feels like' temperature, wind speed and direction, pressure, amount of cloud-free sunlight, precipitation probability and amount, relative humidity and much more. There's also a radar and satellite view for watching back the previous few hours' of weather (an optional premium subscription gives you a more advanced view complete with forecasting).
