Sony announces quad SSD ultra-portable laptop

Sony has announced its latest Vaio laptop, the Z-series VPCZ11Z9E, an ultra-portable model with four solid state disks (SSDs) and a 1080p resolution screen.
Sony's Vaio Z VPCZ11Z9E may only weigh 1.43kg, but it has four 64GB solid state disks arranged as RAID 0 array providing 256GB of storage. There's also a staggering 6GB of RAM.
The 13.1in screen has a far higher resolution than we'd expect for its size – 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. This is high enough to show 1080p video, but we have concerns over how legible this will be and the built-in optical drive is a DVD writer and not a Blu-ray drive.
Like the last Z-series Vaio we saw, this latest model has two graphics chips – an integrated Intel chip and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 330M. Switching between the two is as easy as pressing a button. The Core i7 620M processor should be faster and more power efficient than the Core 2 Duo chips used in previous Z-series Vaios.
Sony has yet to confirm pricing, but the VPCZ11Z9E is likely to be expensive. The last Z-series Vaio we saw, the VGN-Z31VN/X, cost £2,000. Sony has also announced the VPCZ11X9E which is likely to cost less since it has only two 64GB SSDs, 4GB of RAM, a 1,600x900 pixel screen and a slower Core i7 520M processor. Both will be available from the end of March.
