OnePlus 7T release date: Everything we know about OnePlus’ new handsets

OnePlus is holding an event in India on 26 September followed by the global launch event for the OnePlus 7T in London on 10 October

We no longer need to rely on rumours and hearsay. OnePlus – known for sticking to a gruelling schedule of two flagship releases per year – has officially revealed the OnePlus 7T release date and schedule.

Going live in India on 26 September, as part of what the company is calling the “first installment”, the global OnePlus 7T release date and launch event is then taking place in London on 10 October. You can find out how to get tickets to the OnePlus 7T launch, and how to watch the OnePlus 7T event on our hub.

This OnePlus7T release date mirrors the 2018 unveiling of the OnePlus 6T and comes four months after the launch of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. As such, we’re expecting both a OnePlus 7T and a OnePlus 7T Pro handset, which would be a first for the Chinese company.

Beyond the release date, we’ve collated the hints, rumours and leaks regarding the OnePlus 7T below, so if you’re keen to know what to expect, read on.

OnePlus 7T: Everything we know so far

OnePlus 7T release date: When will it launch?

As mentioned above, the OnePlus 7T is set for a 10 October debut. The first portion of the release event will take place on 26 September in India, with a secondary launch event occurring on 10 October in London. The London event is open to the general public, and you can find tickets using the link above. It seems plausible that the two handsets – the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro – will launch in succession, on 26 September and 10 October respectively.

OnePlus 7T price: How much will it cost?

As a general rule, the difference in price between a regular OnePlus handset and its “T” sibling is never a significant amount. the OnePlus 6 started at £469, for example, while the OnePlus 6T cost £499 at launch. Using this slightly simplistic logic, you can expect the OnePlus 7T to start at roughly £529 – the OnePlus 7 also launched at £499.

The OnePlus 7 Pro was by all accounts a bit of a surprise, and an expensive one at that. Starting at £649, we can only assume that the 7T Pro will be incrementally more expensive: to make a rough estimate, we’d expect to see the OnePlus 7T start at a nice even £700

OnePlus 7T design: What will it look like?

This.

Any questions?

Good.

The OnePlus 7T Pro, meanwhile, will look like this:

I grant you, this is a bit more interesting. Where the OnePlus 7T boasts that imposing new circular camera array, the OnePlus 7T Pro seemingly doesn’t differ much from its predecessor, although if you look closely you’ll spot a new sensor to the left of the main camera array.

OnePlus 7T features and specs: What will it do?

Specs-wise, we’re anticipating 8GB of RAM and one of two chipsets: either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset or, more likely, the brand new 855 Plus, if OnePlus plans on really pulling out the stops. Back that up with a gorgeous 90Hz OLED display and up to 512GB storage, and you’ve got yourself a likely candidate for the best OnePlus handset yet. We anticipate very few differences between the 7T and 7T Pro, other than the presence of a notch and – hopefully – larger storage/memory options.

Based on the official images above, the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro will come packing triple rear cameras. Presumably, the OnePlus 7T has some kind of nifty trick up its sleeve; why else would it have such an unusually shaped camera array?

As for if it’ll come 5G-ready, we’re not yet sure. OnePlus is known for its laudable 5G ventures – the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G made our lineup of best 5G smartphones money can buy – so we wouldn’t be surprised if the company threw its hat into the 5G ring with the 7T.

(In related news, that may be the most times “5G” has ever appeared in a single sentence.)
