Best Black Friday and Cyber Monday TV deals

1. JVC Fire TV Edition 50in 4K HDR TV (was £430, now £329) – Intuitive entry-level 4K TV with Alexa voice assistant

With £101 off in the Black Friday sales, the JVC Fire TV Edition 50in is now only £350 at Currys PC World. That’s astonishingly good value for a 4K HDR TV of this size, and it’s a great budget option if you’re just making the jump to the world of 4K smart TVs from an older FHD set. With multi-HDR support, Amazon Alexa voice assistance and a plethora of streaming services including Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime Video at your disposal, the Fire TV Edition has everything you’ll need to get started. HDR performance is never going to be world-class at this price but we were very impressed by the TV’s Dolby Vision playback, especially with ‘Dark’ mode enabled.

2. Samsung TU8000 43in 4K HDR TV (was £499, now £379)

Samsung’s QLED TVs may get all the press and attention, but they aren’t nearly as affordable as models such as the Samsung TU8000, which is currently £120 cheaper on Amazon. If you’re not bothered about quantum dot layers, full-array lighting and viewing angle compensation films, you’re probably better off buying this 4K HDR TU8000 – it has multi-HDR support, three smart assistants and ALLM for auto-enabling a low input lag Game mode when compatible consoles (such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X) are connected.

3. Philips 50PUS7855 58in 4K HDR TV (was £549, now £449) – Affordable Ambilight immersion

This 58in 4K HDR TV from Philips is back in stock on the Currys PC World website, with a chunky £100 off its regular £549 price. That brings it down to a very palatable £449 – not bad at all for such a large screen size. Offering Ambilight LED lighting and cinematic sound with Dolby Atmos, you’re in for the most immersive of viewing experiences with the PUS7855. Plus, there’s universal HDR support for HDR10, HDR10+, Hybrid Log-Gamma and Dolby Vision. Amazon Alexa is built into the TV so you can dictate (literally) what you want to watch, when you want to watch it, without lifting a finger – making for a very supine Christmas indeed…

4. LG NANO86 55in 4K HDR TV (was £799, now £679) – Cheapest TV with next-gen HDMI 2.1 gaming features

Gamers, this one’s for you! With a hefty £120 discount, the year’s most affordable next-gen gaming TV is now cheaper than ever. That’s right, the LG NANO86 is by far the cheapest TV in 2020 with HDMI 2.1 support for Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low-Latency Mode and 4K@120Hz, making it the logical choice for PS5 and Xbox Series X owners working to a budget. Fair warning, this discounted model has already sold out at several online retailers – get it from John Lewis before it’s gone!

5. Philips 805 OLED 55in 4K HDR TV (was £1,499, now £1,199)

Earlier in the year, we gave the Philips 805 55in a 5-Star Recommended review and felt that it represented great value even at its £1,499 launch price. With a gargantuan £300 discount the Phillips 805 55in is one of the best OLED bargains of the year. For £1,199, you’re getting a big-screen OLED with class-leading picture quality, universal HDR support (including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision) and premium built-in speakers. Colour accuracy is excellent and, with the second-highest brightness of any 2020 OLED (behind only the £4,000 Panasonic HZ2000) its HDR playback is as impactful as it gets. And then there’s Philips’ signature Ambilight bias lighting system, which adds to the viewer’s immersion while fighting to reduce eye fatigue at the same time.

6. LG CX OLED 55in 4K HDR TV (was £1,799, now £1,299) – Our favourite 4K OLED TV of 2020

Our favourite OLED of the year, the LG CX, is now at its lowest ever price in the early Black Friday sales. We reviewed the LG CX 55in at £1,799, but it’s now just £1,299, making it not only the best all-around OLED but also one of the best-value OLEDs too. Picture quality and HDR performance are practically impeccable, thanks to the OLED panel’s pixel-level control and colour accuracy. Dolby Vision IQ is particularly impressive. The CX is also the best gaming TV you can buy, with four HDMI 2.1 inputs that support ALLM, 4K at 120Hz and VRR (G-Sync and FreeSync), so you can really make the most of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. You’ll need to be quick; Amazon and John Lewis have sold out since cutting the price, and stock can only last so long at Currys PC World.

7. Sony XH90 75in 4K HDR TV (was £2,199, now £1,599) – Best big-screen gaming TV

After an extra-large gaming TV to pair with a PS5 or Xbox Series X? With £600 off the RRP in the Black Friday sales at Currys PC World, the Sony XH90 75in is the best-value big-screen 4K gaming TV on the market. As part of a recent firmware update, the XH90 now supports next-gen gaming features such as VRR and 4K at 120Hz via its two HDMI 2.1 inputs. As we noted in our review of the Sony XH90 75in, HDR playback is bright and impactful, most of all in Dolby Vision, and the XH90’s motion control and black levels are also exceptional for a mid-range LED LCD. Pick this one up while the savings last!

8. Samsung Q800T 65in 8K HDR TV (was £3,799, now £2,299)

The Q800T 65in is the smallest and most affordable of Samsung’s mid-range 8K TVs in 2020, and it’s currently at its lowest ever price in the early Black Friday sales. When we first covered the Q800T, it was retailing for £3,799, meaning the new Black Friday price of £2,229 is an incredible £1,500 cheaper. This 8K QLED TV packs in plenty of premium Samsung tech, including an Ultra Wide Viewing Angle layer, FALD, a Quantum Processor 8K and Object Tracking Sound+. Like other Samsung QLEDs, it supports HDR 10, HDR 10+ and HLG, and its eARC output can decode Dolby Atmos audio. Finally, for gaming, the Q800T has VRR (FreeSync and G-Sync) and ALLM capabilities.
