I’m sick of the UK heatwave, so I’ve found 3 Prime Day cooling deals to beat the heat – and one to avoid

Tired of sweating buckets? I've picked out these Prime Day cooling deals to stick it to British summer

This Prime Day is an absolute scorcher. I mean that literally – as I sit in Expert Reviews’ Old Street offices, the temperature outside has passed 31C, and I’m dreading the thought of leaving the air con to work from my thoroughly roasting home later this week.

Since everyone is already clamouring for Prime Day cooling deals (including me), I thought I’d oblige. I’ve pulled together as many top-notch Prime Day deals on fans and other cooling appliances as I can possibly find – the mere act has left me feeling cooler, and I’m certain there will be something in here to save you from this relentless heatwave. And the next one. And the one after that.

So don’t delay. Read on for my favourite Prime Day cooling deals as of Wednesday 24 June – day two of Amazon Prime Day itself. And remember to sign up to Amazon Prime if you want to enjoy these deep-frozen discounts!

An unusual starting point, perhaps, but our Home Editor Gareth Thomas has been using this dinky desk fan in his sweltering flat all summer and is besotted with it. He particularly likes the carry strap, which he uses to hang it from a doorknob for an optimal cooling angle.

Levoit Classic Tower review - 1 - header

This is just about the only good fan deal left standing after the first day of Prime Day, so act fast. An excellent low price on our favourite tower fan, the Dimplex Ion Fresh, which has an unusual tilt control and built-in ionisation to “cool the air” before it hits you. We rather liked it when we tested it, anyway.

Forget Amazon for this one: Sony has your heatwave commuting needs covered. The Reon Pocket 5 is a personal cooling device that sits at the back of your neck and blasts cold air down your spine. It’s a little odd to wear, but it earned a four-star review from us, and I’ve never seen it this cheap before!

The Shark ChillPill portable fan on a table in its desktop configuration

Unless you’re desperate for the bundle cross-body strap and carry case, this deal isn’t as good as it looks: £120 is only £10 less than the cost of the ChillPill at RRP. We’re also not fond of Shark’s high-end portable fan – it’s extremely loud and surprisingly ineffective for the exorbitant price.

Grab John Lewis’ £15 personal fan instead – it’s more powerful and, uh, a fair bit cheaper!
