Best small air fryer - Tower T17023 2.2L

Six air fryer models from the homeware appliances brand Tower have now been recalled due to safety concerns, with the addition of Sainsbury’s T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer (SKU: 143897281) as of 9 March 2026.

According to the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards, these air fryers may “overheat and ignite during use” and have consequently been labelled as fire risks, failing to meet standards set by the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016

According to the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the product recall was first published on 8 April 2025, with additional models being added on 24 July. To date, the six affected models are as follows:

  • T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
  • T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer
  • T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer (Sainsbury’s SKU: 143897281)
  • T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer
  • T17129L Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer (Lidl)
  • T17129 Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer (Argos)

Tower has urged users with any of the above air fryers to immediately unplug and stop using their appliance. If this is you, you can register it for a refund or a replacement directly from Tower.

Here at Expert Reviews, we’ve reviewed several Tower products and have found that, for the most part, the brand manufactures simple, affordable appliances. Previously, the T17023 air fryer – one of the recalled models – was our favourite budget air fryer: we gave it four stars and a Recommended Award when we reviewed it a couple of years ago.

Following the product recalls, we’ve updated our full Tower T17023 air-fryer review, as well as our best air fryers roundup
