Dorma is now owned by Dunelm, and the Full Forever range is part of the brand’s luxury bedding range. Another duvet with a cotton cover and polyester filling, the Full Forever Duo that I tested was made up of 7.5 tog and 3 tog duvets that can also be used together for a whopping 10.5 tog, but there are also plenty of individual options available.
How does the Dorma Full Forever Duo duvet set compare to other duvets I’ve tested and is it deserving of a place in our best duvets roundup? I slept under it to find out…
Dorma Full Forever Duo 3 + 7.5 Tog All Seasons Duvet: What do you get for the money?
As I mentioned above, I called in the Dorma Full Forever Duo, which is made up of both 7.5 tog and 3 tog duvets that can also be layered on top of each other (and connected) to make one 10.5 tog duvet. But the Dorma is also available in individual 4.5, 7.5, 10.5, 13.5 and 15 tog versions. Price wise, a single Duo duvet will cost you £95, a double £105, a king £115 and a super king £125. Individual duvets start at £50 for a 4.5 tog single size and rise up to £105 for a super king 15 tog duvet.
These prices are comparable to many other synthetic options, such as the Soak & Sleep Soft As Down All Seasons duvet, which costs £119 for a double. You’ll also pay similar prices for buying both individual 4.5 tog and 10.5 tog Homescapes Indulgent Pure Mulberry Silk Blend duvets, which cost £100 for the pair. Of course, there are cheaper options such as the Dreams Dream Team Ultimate Washable duvet, which will set you back £80 if you choose to buy both a double 4.5 and 10.5 tog duvet, but the difference is still only £15.
The Dorma Duo duvets arrive vacuum-packed into a box, but annoyingly, Dorma does not supply a carry bag for storage. Of course, you can cram them back into the box they arrived in, but I always prefer to see a bag. The duvets are both made from 100% recycled polyester with a 233-thread count cotton cover, which is both machine washable and can be tumble dried on a low setting.
What did we like?
Look and feel
Much like the Full Forever mattress topper I tested last year, I was impressed by the quality of the Dorma Full Forever Duo duvets. The higher thread count from the cotton cover makes it feel soft and silky to the touch, and it’s really nicely finished off with a quilted stitch to keep the filling in its segmented place, along with a bound edge which gives the whole duvet a rather smart finish.
With both duvets connected to one another, the assembled 10.5 tog duvet is a bit of a beast, and I found it a little challenging to stuff the whole thing into a cover – but it certainly never felt smothering. I was able to move about beneath the duvet comfortably and didn’t feel weighed down.
Performance
Although it uses a hollofibre synthetic filling – known for trapping heat – the Dorma duvet is breathable, thanks to its cotton casing. It kept me at a comfortable temperature every night (with and without my electric blanket) and I never felt clammy. My hot-sleeping husband also slept comfortably, even with both duvets attached. Keeping such polar opposites happy is no mean feat, and I was on the whole thoroughly impressed by the Dorma Full Forever Duo’s performance.
What could be improved?
Like many synthetic duvets I’ve tested, the Dorma initially crinkled a bit as I moved around under it, although I’d expect this to improve over time as the material gets softer.
It’s also a bit tricky to get both duvets into one duvet cover. They attach to one another via four poppers – one at each corner of the duvet – which in my mind simply isn’t enough; I would have preferred to see at least a couple of poppers lining every side, to hold both duvets together more securely.
Should you buy the Dorma Full Forever Duo 3 + 7.5 Tog All Seasons Duvet?
If you’re looking for a duvet that looks and feels far more expensive than its price tag would suggest, the Dorma Full Forever Duo should be at the top of your list. The cotton casing is soft and silky, and the duvet is extremely comfortable to sleep under.
I also really like the fact that you’re getting three duvets in one here, although very cold sleepers might need to invest in either the 13.5 or 15 tog for really cold winter nights. In comparison to its rivals the Dorma is also well priced and I think it’s a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a high quality synthetic duvet.
