When it comes to finding your perfect pillow, there’s no easy, one-size-fits-all solution, but this, the British Wool Pillow from Piglet, seems like it comes close. And, since there are three sizes and three weight options to choose from, you can match up something that suits your sleeping preferences precisely, making it feel like a pillow that was made just for you.
On test here is their standard medium pillow, which strikes a great balance between comfort and support, almost guaranteeing you a great night’s sleep. It’s one of the best pillows I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing, but if you’re an allergy sufferer, or vegan, its natural sheep wool filling might not suit.
Piglet British Wool Pillow review: What do you get for the money?
Filled with sheep’s wool, which Piglet claims to be 100% ethically sourced, this pillow is naturally hypoallergenic and thermoregulating, with a 100% cotton cover that wicks away moisture. It’s also certified to the OKEO-TEX Standard 100, meaning the cover and the filling are both completely free from harmful substances or unwanted chemicals.
Piglet allows you to choose from three sizes – standard, super king and square (there’s a handy size guide on their website if you’re unclear how big they are) – and three weights – soft, medium and firm – to get the ideal combination for your needs. Prices start from £59 for the standard soft option, but it was on offer for just over £44 at the time of writing.
Disappointingly, particularly for a pricier pillow, there is no warranty. Your only option is to return it, unused, within 90 days of ordering. This is free if you’re in the UK, but if you’re outside the UK, you will have to cover the cost of that yourself. And you’ll only be refunded the price of the pillow, none of the original shipping costs – though shipping to the UK is free for orders over £50, free to the EU for orders over £200 and free to much of the rest of the world for orders over £350.
Piglet British Wool Pillow review: What does it do well?
The Piglet pillow’s natural filling and cover make it very comfortable, and I found the medium support to be just right – not too soft, not too firm. But having so many options for size and weight is a huge bonus – upgrade to super king if the standard size is not big enough, or, if you prefer a different weight, eschew the medium (800g) for a firmer pillow (1,000g) or go for something softer (700g).

The thermoregulating qualities of the wool filling and the cotton covers are very good. My wife tends to be a hot sleeper and, while we were testing these pillows, she never once got too hot during the night, helping her get a much-appreciated good night’s sleep.

Finally, I have to mention the personalised introductory brochure that Piglet bundled in with the pillows. It came with a thank you and a discount code for future purchases, as well as a returns form. No other pillow we’ve reviewed has added such a personal touch as this, and it really made me feel like they cared about their product and us.
Piglet British Wool Pillow review: What could be improved?
In my opinion, there is very little wrong with the Piglet British Wool Pillow. In regards to comfort and support, it finds the perfect middle ground between soft and firm. That said, if you want something softer, the Dusk Feels Like Down is an alternative worth considering.

However, at full price (£65), the Piglet is on the expensive side, especially for a single pillow that isn’t even machine washable – regular outdoor airing is required to keep the pillow fresh, clean and reinvigorated. And, when we received it, the pillow had a slight scent of lanolin, so those who are sensitive to smell will probably find they need to air it out before they can use it.
Piglet British Wool Pillow review: Should you buy it?
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Piglet British Wool Pillow – it’s one of the most comfortable pillows I’ve tested. Its medium support works perfectly for me and should suit most sleepers. It’s not cheap, but I’d be more than happy to pay full price for such a great night’s sleep.Of course, not everyone will share my preferences, so if you prefer a softer pillow, you might get on better with the Dusk Feels Like Down Pillow. Or, if you prefer a firmer pillow, try a foam pillow such as the Emma Original Foam Pillow.
