Getting between each of these features is incredibly easy thanks to a simple and easy to understand interface filled with colourful icons. Unfortunately, there aren’t many settings to adjust beneath the surface. Four picture presets and one more helpful user preset are all you get, although you can tone down the image sharpness and adjust brightness and contrast.

High-definition video looked great, if a little too dark in certain scenes, which led to a lack of shadow detail that forced us back into the menus to adjust the contrast accordingly, but for the most part images were still sharp and detailed. If you have a large DVD collection then you’re unlikely to be blown away by the basic DVD upscaling, which smooths edges but generates a fair amount of noise artefacts.

Even with its killer looks, Smart TV features and surprising sound quality, it’s difficult to justify the £450 price if you have room for surround sound. You could buy a complete 5.1 system for less, but it certainly gives single speaker sound bars a run for their money, making it a compelling choice for anyone with limited space.
