Our Rating
Creative's Zen Aurvana headphones are designed to fit deep into the ear, forming a seal that helps to block unwanted noise.
This stops your music being drowned out by background bustle and should prevent it leaking out and annoying others. Like sticking fingers in your ears, though, this type of headphone has the unsettling effect of amplifying internal noises such as yawns.
Noise-blocking headphones can feel invasive and many people find them uncomfortable. Fortunately, Creative supplies the Aurvanas with a wide range of sleeves and we found them among the best-fitting we've tried. The headphones greatly reduced most external noise, but were less effective against sounds such as rustling paper.
These headphones are balanced, detailed and powerful, and sound less tiring than cheaper alternatives we've tested. They're a good way to hush a busy environment, provided you mostly sit still and refrain from sneezes and coughs. For this money, though, we'd opt for the higher comfort of headphones with active noise cancelling.
