The Ter D+A won a Best Buy award in Shopper November 2005. Its price has since dropped by £20.
The PCI card has S-video and composite inputs for analogue video. Like Terratec's Cinergy Hybrid, it can capture video only to MPEG2 files. It has an FM radio antenna, though, and a big remote control with all the buttons you'll need. Setting up the card is easy, thanks to the PowerCinema wizard. It had no problems finding the digital TV, analogue TV and FM radio signals, but like the Terratec Cinergy Hybrid it can't find or store digital radio channels. You can reorganise the channels into a sensible order.
Like most of the tuners here, the Ter D+A can't display digital Teletext channels, but it can display normal Teletext using the analogue tuner. Picture quality from digital broadcasts was acceptable and analogue reception was excellent with hardly any ghosting or noise. CyberLink's PowerCinema software is easy to use. As well as displaying TV broadcasts, it can play a range of photo, video and music files using the same interface.
At only £35 including VAT with PowerCinema software, this TwinHan tuner is a great deal. Even if you don't plan on using the analogue TV or video capture options, it's the best way to watch Freeview television on your computer. It's also a great way to watch analogue television and will enable you to switch over to Freeview once it becomes available in your area.
