Vacuum cleaner manufacturers love to play around with model names in a bid to confuse consumers and Shark is at it with its Stratos Pet Pro IZ402UKTSB. This cordless vacuum, reduced to the tempting price of £195 in the Amazon Spring Deal Days sale, is in fact the same core vacuum as we reviewed way back in 2023 under the IZ400UKT label. The only difference is the accessories it comes with and the colour of some of the plastics.

That’s no bad thing, however. The Stratos was a great vacuum back when we reviewed it and it holds up well today, too. Even though this isn’t the lowest price it has ever been, it’s close to it, cheaper tham the 180-day average by a decent £66 and it’s a whole lot cheaper than most rival Dyson vacuums.

This is a cordless vacuum that’s absolutely stuffed with clever features. Our favourite bit about it has to be the articulating joint halfway down the main extension wand. Push a button and it folds up, allowing you to slide the cleaning head under low furniture without having to get down on your hands and knees.

It serves double duty, too: fold the handle all the way over and the vacuum can stand up on its own – no need to find a wall or unit to lean it against.

The main motor cleaning head has dual brush bars, which means it can be used on both carpet and hard floors without the need to swap heads between surface types. It detects the type of surface it’s being used on, too, ramping up the brush speed on carpet and slowing it down on tiles or linoleum.

The Stratos’ party piece, however, has to be its replaceable scent pods. Pop one of these into the circular port on the cleaning head’s right-hand side and release a pleasant, odour-neutralising smell, as you vacuum. The pods last around six months each and new ones aren’t that expensive at around £12 for six – that’s three years’ worth of supplies.

In terms of accessories, it comes supplied with the following:

  • Crevice tool for cleaning narrow spaces and corners
  • Mini motor pet tool that’s great for stairs and car carpets
  • A “fur fins” pet tool for lifting stubborn pet hair from surfaces such as sofas and cushions
  • An anti-allergen brush – a tool with soft bristles designed to pick up fine dust particles on delicate surfaces

When we reviewed the IZ400UKT back in 2023, our reviewer said it was “a joy” to use and an “absolutely phenomenal cleaner”.

He said it was easy to empty, cleaned more effectively than a  Dyson Gen5detect, and in doing so “blitzed through all our tests”. This is a cordless vacuum that can cope equally well with large and small particles on carpet and hard floor alike, and it performed admirably with pet hair, too, cleaning up everything we threw on the floor in a single pass.

In short, the Shark Stratos IZ402UKTSB is a brilliant vacuum. It performs just as well, if not better than far more expensive vacuums from Dyson and it comes with a couple of unique features, too. If you’re looking for a fantastic deal on a vacuum cleaner in the Amazon Deal Days sale, this is the one you want to buy.
