The super Garmin Forerunner 645 Music is now yours for under £200

A whole lot of wearable for £199.99

Back on Black Friday, you might remember that the Garmin Forerunner 645 Music was down to £199.99 at Argos. If you ummed and ahhed long enough, you’ll have missed out as it reverted to its old price as soon as Cyber Monday ended.
But if you’ve been rueing that day ever since, then we have good news for you: it’s now back to £199.99 at Argos as part of the January sales
While Argos lists the old price as £274.99, that only tells part of the story. When it was first released back in February 2018, it sold for £399.99 – and the Garmin website still sells it for £350. In other words, it was a pricey wearable on release, and has now come down to the midrange in the sales. It’s now cheaper than the newly released Forerunner 245, for example.
And while it may not have some of the newer features like Pace Pro and Body Battery, the Forerunner 645 Music still has plenty of handy metrics for pro runners which aren’t on the 245 including Garmin Pay, a barometric altimeter and the ability to measure running power. That’s on top of tracking GPS, heart rate and general fitness trends. It even has Garmin Coach, which guides you on your way to your first 5k, 10k or half marathon – or will help you improve your times if that’s old hat to you.
“There’s really not much bad I can say about the Garmin Forerunner 645 Music, other than the fact that it’s pretty expensive and – if you’re a casual runner like me – the data it provides is probably overkill,” I wrote in my review at the time. “Most people could downgrade to the excellent Vivoactive 3 Music, saving nearly £200 in the process and still be very happy with the watch and the data gleaned.
“But, despite this, I have lots of review watches on my desk, and when I lace up this is the one I instinctively grab. That says a great deal about the quality, comfort and style of the Garmin 645 Music. It’s one very special running watch.”
Sadly I had to give my review unit back, but I very nearly bought this on Black Friday when my price concerns were no longer an issue. In the end I went for the 245 pretty much entirely for Pace Pro – a feature I still haven’t used. So maybe I should have just bought this…
