12-year-old Farmville player costs mum £900

A 12-year-old Farmville player has spent more than £900 on the Facebook game Farmville. The child spent £288 of his own money, before sneakily racking up £625 on his mum's credit card.
Farmville lets you raise crops and animals, selling them for in-game money. However, gamers can spend real money to get Farmville cash, using this to get ahead in the game - something this child was desperate to do.
Both Facebook and Zynga, the makers of Farmville, have refused to refund the money on the basis that the child lives at the same address the credit card's registered to, although Facebook has since suspended his account.
The Police have also refused to do anything about it, unless the mother decides to report her son for credit card fraud. As that would result in a criminal caution, it's not something she'll do.
