Top 20 free Android apps
Posted on 28 Jan 2011 at 13:00
We've rounded up our top free iPhone apps, but there's arguably much more choice with Google's Android operating system. Here's our current top 20 free apps, with the newest ones at the top. All of them can be downloaded through the Market app, available on every Android phone - just search for the apps we list below.
Ever wish that you could take something you're reading in your web browser to your phone? With Chrome to Phone, you can. This app requires you to install the Chrome to Phone Extension for Google Chrome.
On both your phone and browser you log Chrome to Phone into your Google Account. From that point on, you can send things from your browser to your phone. Web pages are automatically opened in your phone's browser, but you can also select text in Chrome and send that: email addresses pop up in your phone's email client, phone numbers are put into the dialler and other text is copied to the clipboard.
Keeping up with the latest football scores is easy thanks to the ESPN goals app. This lets you keep track of your team's progress in the league, view upcoming schedules and get live match reports. If you pay the monthly subscription you can even view short video clips. International matches are supported, too, making this app a source of all your football information.
