Our favourite Sony earbuds are free with Xperia 5 contracts
It’s that time of year: Virgin Media is offering a cracking freebie with Sony smartphone contracts for Black Friday
Black Friday is approaching, and to celebrate, Virgin Media is offering a free pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 true wireless earbuds with select Xperia 5 contracts.
Our favourite is a Black Friday special that offers 50GB data, 5000 minutes and unlimited texts for £36.50/mth (over 24 months). That would be a bit steep, but for the fact that there’s no upfront cost – and the fact that you get a free pair of £219 earbuds thrown in.
This is a magical combination, because we can safely recommend every component of the offer. We rate Virgin Mobile for speed, coverage and value, awarding it a respectable four stars – so long as you take care to watch for unusual 36-month contracts.
As for the WF-1000XM3, well, they’re a lot more than just a collection of letters and numbers. Sony’s noise-cancelling wireless earbuds received a stellar review from us: our writer described them as “the best noise-cancelling earphones […] on the market”, praising the ample battery life, solid connection and excellent sound quality. We gave them five stars, and slapped a coveted Best Buy award on them for good measure.
The compact Sony Xperia 5 also reviewed well: we described it as “Sony’s best-priced flagship yet.” The Xperia 5 successfully takes the high-end specs of its larger sibling – the Xperia 1 – and squashes them into a smaller body, reducing the resolution of that unusual 21:9 display but retaining the speedy processor, advanced triple rear camera and Android 9 operating system.
Since this is a Black Friday offer, we expect that it will only last for another couple of weeks at most. If you’re in the market for a new contract, smartphone or pair of headphones (or better yet, all three) this deal is unmissable, so get your skates on.
