Since Amazon officially revealed its Black Friday sales will be running for an incredible eight days – from 22 November to 29 November – many people will likely hold off from grabbing one the retailer’s own-brand products. Unsurprisingly, its range of Amazon Echo speakers and Fire tablets are typically the first items to get discounted.

The Echo Dot on offer is the latest third-generation model with an LED clock face that sits on one side of the device. Its fabric design is available in black, pink, dark grey or light grey and like every Echo in Amazon’s collection, the Echo Dot is powered by Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa.

This means you can use voice commands to get the latest news headlines, find out football scores, ask about the weather as well as connect your Echo Dot to multiple other Echo speakers and smart home products and use your voice to turn the lights on and off, or set the temperature of the heating.

The Echo Dot is the smallest, cheapest smart speaker in the range. At the opposite end of the scale is Amazon’s latest model, the Echo Studio. In addition to offering the standard Echo features, the Echo Studio is first and foremost a high-quality speaker, compatible with a wide range of music formats, including CD Quality (16-bit/44.1kHz), Hi-Res (24-bit/up to 192 kHz) audio, Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 Reality Audio. Priced at around the same as a Sonos speaker, at £190, the Echo Studio goes on sale on Christmas Day.
