Sony WH-1000XM4 price SLASHED this Black Friday
You can pick up the Sony WH-1000XM4 for a lovely discount this Black Friday
A number of retailers have cut the price of the exceptional Sony WH-1000XM4 noise-cancelling headphones ahead of Black Friday.
John Lewis currently has the best deal on the black WH-1000XM4, which are available for just £213. That’s a whopping £136 off their RRP, though we have seen them fluctuate between £235 and £300 over the past six months.
Even still, they’ve only been cheaper on a handful of occasions, making now a great time to invest in what are our favourite over-ear noise-cancelling headphones.
If you’d prefer the silver or midnight blue variants, those are available for £249 from Amazon, Currys and John Lewis.
Discounts on those models aren’t quite as common as on the black model and at £249, they still represent great value.
The headphones themselves had a hard act to follow in the WH-1000XM3 but improve on their predecessors in pretty much every meaningful way.
They deliver class-leading active noise cancellation that’s both supremely effective and very smart. Sound is attenuated wonderfully well across the frequency spectrum and the WH-1000XM4 can automatically adjust ANC based on what you’re doing and where you are.
They’ll even learn about the noise-cancelling needs of the environments you frequent most often and allow you to create bespoke sound profiles for those places. It’s truly ingenious and works like a charm.
Complementing that clever noise-cancelling technology is some of the best wireless over-ear audio on the market. The WH-1000XM4 handle dynamic shifts brilliantly and their default sound signature is beautifully balanced.
Bass possesses plenty of low-end punch but remains silky smooth, instrument separation is excellent and the headphones do a great job of extracting every drop of detail from complex arrangements.
On top of this audio prowess, the Sony WH-1000XM4 bring a number of quality-of-life features to the table, the most impressive of which is the new Speak-to-Chat function.
This automatically pauses audio when your voice is detected and makes holding conversations with the headphones on a breeze. Multipoint pairing allows for two Bluetooth devices to be connected to the WH-1000XM4 simultaneously, which is a nice touch, while wear detection ensures your music stops when you take the headphones off.
Microphone quality could be better but aside from that, the Sony WH-1000XM4 are pretty much the perfect over-ear headphones.
