Marshall launches the Marshall Motif and Marshall Minor III

Marshall's latest earbuds are a rock and roll alternative to the AirPods and AirPods Pro

Iconic British audio manufacturer Marshall has today unveiled two new pairs of true wireless earbuds: the Marshall Motif and Marshall Minor III.

Marshall is best known for making guitar amps but has an extensive lineup of over-ear, on-ear and in-ear headphones, including the Marshall Monitor II ANC and the Marshall Major IV.

Its inaugural true wireless earbuds, the Marshall Mode II, were released earlier this year and rather than rest on its laurels, the company has extended its true wireless range with the addition of the Motif and Minor III.

The Motif offer active noise cancellation – currently one of the most sought-after features in the world of true wireless audio – and are available to buy now for £170 with units shipping from 30 September.

Marshall says you’ll be able to set your own level of ANC and there’s also a Transparency setting that enables you to hear what’s going on in your surroundings.

In addition to noise cancellation, the Motif come with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, total battery life of up to 20 hours, touch controls and a striking earbud design that’s rated IPX5 for water resistance. The accompanying charging case can be topped up wirelessly and is IPX4 rated so you don’t need to worry about whipping it out in a downpour.

The Motif house custom-tuned 6mm drivers which the company says deliver “growling bass, smooth mids and crisp treble”. They come with three sets of silicone eartips to help you get a good fit no matter the size of your lugholes and have in-ear detection technology that will see them automatically pause when taken out of your ears and resume once put back in again.

The Minor III are available for £120 from today and are effectively Marshall’s take on the Apple AirPods. They sport the same one-size-fits-all design, though their black stems are textured, while their specifications aren’t too dissimilar either.

IPX4 certification ensures a decent level of water resistance, while battery life on the buds is stated at up to five hours with the charging case supplying enough juice for four full charges. They incorporate large 12mm drivers that have a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, and like the Motif, offer a full suite of touch controls and auto-pause technology.
