You can find big discounts available on a wide range of products in Amazon’s Spring Sale but this offer on the Asus Zenbook 14 is the best laptop deal we’ve come across so far.
The online retail giant is currently selling the Zenbook 14 for just £700, which is £50 cheaper than it was going for before the start of the deals event and represents a huge £400 discount on its original asking price of £1,099.
The model in question runs Windows 11 and is powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processor backed by 16GB of RAM. You also get a 512GB SSD and graphics courtesy of Intel Iris Xe. That’s a great set of specs for the money, but the most appealing aspect of this ultraportable laptop is its 16:10 2.8K (2,880 x 1,800) OLED touchscreen, which Asus says is capable of hitting a peak brightness of 400 nits.
OLED displays are becoming more popular inclusions on laptops as they’re able to display a wider range of colours than their LCD counterparts and their self-emissive pixels are able to create near-infinite contrast. This results in deeper blacks and punchier highlights, while OLED displays also benefit from wider viewing angles. This makes OLED laptops a particularly good choice for creatives, lovers of film and box-set bingers.
To complement the Zenbook 14’s OLED display, there’s an in-built Dolby Atmos-compatible stereo sound system created by Harman Kardon. There’s only so much a laptop’s relatively meagre speaker setup can do to articulate Atmos effects, but this still gives the Zenbook 14 an edge on many of its competitors where audio immersion is concerned.
Other appealing qualities of the Zenbook 14 include a compact chassis that’s just 16.9mm thick, weighs 1.39kg and sports a Kintsugi-inspired lid that helps set it apart from its mid-range rivals. In terms of connectivity, the Zenbook 14 supports both Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5, and houses two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A port, HDMI 2.1 port, Micro SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. A backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.4mm key travel, touchpad, 720p camera and fingerprint sensor round out what is an enticing offering, particularly at this reduced price of £700.
The Zenbook 14 has been as cheap as it is now on a few occasions in the past, but this offer is set to expire when the Amazon Spring Sale event ends at midnight on Wednesday, 29 March, so take advantage of it while you can.
