The Cybex e-PRIAM is a smart electric pram designed to make pushing your baby even easier

The Cybex e-PRIAM stroller has smart features designed to make it easier for parents to travel more and carry more

Cybex, a firm renowned for its premium car seats and pushchairs, has taken the idea of luxury a step further with the launch of the Cybex e-PRIAM stroller.

Building on the design of the original Cybex PRIAM pushchair, the Cybex e-PRIAM uses smart features to allow parents to “travel more, carry more, and fit more into their busy schedules.”

These features include smart uphill, and downhill, support using sensors built into the handlebars. These sensors detect when the pushing, or pulling, pressure on the handlebar increases.

When travelling uphill, the electric motors fitted inside the frame between the wheels kick in to take the strain. When walking downhill, support is added to slow the pushchair down. An algorithm is said to be able to detect the incline and amount of pressure and adjust accordingly. It will work up to a maximum incline of 25%, or 14-degrees.

The Cybex e-PRIAM additionally has a so-called “smart uneven surface support” feature capable of detecting the type of terrain – cobblestones, sand, muddy fields, snow, or gravel – and adjusting the support needed. This is controlled by a button on the rear axle.

The battery on the Cybex e-PRIAM, found next to the rear wheels, has a range of between eight and 45km, depending on “load and conditions”, which is quite a substantial difference. A battery indicator with five LEDs in the rear axle shows how much power is left and the e-PRIAM can be charged within six hours via a standard plug.

All this technology adds 2.4kg of extra weight to the Cybex e-PRIAM’s frame, when compared to the standard PRIAM, taking its total weight to 14.5kg.

The CYBEX e-PRIAM is due to launch in selected stores from July 2019 at a cost of £1199.90. It’s compatible with the LUX Carry Cot, an infant car seat or a LITE Cot.

There will also be a variety of frame colours and seat packs to choose from and you can register for updates here.
