One of our favourite laptops under £1,000 – the HP Envy 13 – is the subject of an enticing Black Friday laptop deal on Amazon.
The price of the model on offer has fluctuated since launch but its average price has been around £840. Amazon has now knocked its price down to £750, which is just £13 more than its lowest-ever price in August
While there are also 14in and 15.6in alternatives available – the Envy 14 and Envy 15, respectively – neither model is currently on offer. Still, unlike some other laptop ranges, the smallest Envy has enough going for it to make it well worth considering, especially at this discounted price.
There are several key features that help the Envy 13 stand out from most entry-level laptops. Firstly, it looks fantastic. The sleek metal chassis feels solid without edging into heavy territory, while the gorgeous display and surprisingly powerful speakers make watching movies on this machine a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The internal specs of the Envy 13 also impress. It’s powered by an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 processor backed by 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, boasts solid battery life and its overall performance does not disappoint.
Best of all, tucked away inside the Envy 13 is a discrete graphics card – an Nvidia GeForce MX450, to be precise. While the chip used is a low-power model, with TGP (Total Graphics Power) of 12W and just 2GB of dedicated VRAM, we found that gaming performance was perfectly satisfactory.
It won’t be the best gaming experience money can buy, but all the games we played during testing ran at reasonable speeds, which is commendable given the HP Envy 13’s price tag.
