Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 is a beautiful machine, but it’s also an expensive one. That’s why this Black Friday deal has worked us into such a frenzy: it’s not often you find a discount on the latest Surface Laptop, let alone one that makes you double-take.
Right now at John Lewis, the entry-level Surface Laptop 4 (Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB/128GB) is available for £700, down from an RRP of £900. That’s the cheapest price we’ve found on the Surface Laptop 4 this Black Friday, but you’ll need to act fast.
The entire Surface Laptop family tree is littered with success stories, and as far as we’re concerned, the Surface Laptop 4 upholds the tradition. We gave The Surface Laptop 4 four stars and a Recommended award in our full-length review, praising the gorgeous design, the accurate, responsive touchscreen and even Microsoft’s decision to offer both Intel and AMD variants.
The model we reviewed differs from this one in only one way: it has a Ryzen 5 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage, rather than 128GB. Otherwise, the two laptops are identical. With a lovely, accurate IPS display that has a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,256 x 1,504, your latest Google Sheets endeavour (or Netflix obsession) will look great. The keyboard is another highlight – Surface laptops are always lovely to type on and this one is no exception.

Of course, the Surface Laptop 4 isn’t perfect: its battery life is less impressive than some of its rivals and gamers might want to look elsewhere. But on the whole, this is a lovely laptop for work duties (or clothes shopping in front of the TV – we don’t judge) that’s enjoying a seriously good discount right now.
