The Samsung HW-Q800A was crowned 2021’s best soundbar at our Tech Product of the Year Awards and is still available as part of a brilliant late Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal.
UK retailer Box is bundling the HW-Q800A soundbar and subwoofer with Samsung’s SWA-9500S wireless rear speaker kit for just £699. To put that price in perspective, the HW-Q800A cost £799 when we reviewed it earlier this year and the SWA-9500S speaker kit typically retails for £250.
The soundbar itself has dropped in price since our review – you can currently pick it up on Amazon for around £619 – which means you’re effectively getting a pair of wireless rear speakers for just £81, a huge saving on their normal price.
Adding the pair of wireless rear speakers to the HW-Q800A will transform the 3.1.2-channel soundbar and subwoofer into a true 5.1.4 surround-sound setup and help improve what was already a fantastic-sounding home entertainment system.
The HW-Q800A supports both the major object-based surround-sound formats – Dolby Atmos and DTS:X – and sounds stunning for its size.
In his review of the HW-Q800A, Expert Reviews’ senior editor, Sasha Muller, said: “Whether it’s music or movies, this is a soundbar that sounds superb and reaches impressively high volumes – and most importantly of all, it also knows how to shake the furniture when movie night comes around.”
But there’s more to the HW-Q800A than supreme sound quality. There’s support for Apple AirPlay 2, smart functionality comes courtesy of built-in Amazon Alexa, and you can also stream audio via a Bluetooth connection should you wish.
On top of those handy features, the Samsung HW-Q800A plays particularly nicely with certain Samsung TVs. Compatible TVs can make use of Samsung’s “SpaceFit” feature, which tailors sound to suit your living space, while Q-Symphony enables the bar to work in tandem with your TV’s speakers.
