Everything you need to know about the Lego rewards scheme PLUS all the best Black Friday Lego deals

When you think of Black Friday, big-ticket electrical items like TVs and games consoles likely come to mind first. But these days, just about everybody is getting in on the fun, including the good folk at Lego. For the big day, the brick masters have built a collection of huge discounts on sets and accessories, including special rewards and offers for VIP members.

If the notion of Lego VIP only conjures up confused images of little tuxedoed Minifigures partying behind a tiny velvet rope, fret not. This article will break down exactly what the VIP scheme is, how easy it is to sign up and what you get out of it during the upcoming VIP weekend event.

First though, let’s take a look at some of the hottest deals that Lego is offering this Black Friday.

The best Lego deals of Black Friday 2021

Lego City Main Square

Price: £136 | Buy now from Lego

A classic staple worthy of any Lego enthusiast’s collection or budding builder’s toybox alike, this varied set presents the heart of Lego City in all of its chaotic glory. Previously going for £170, a 20% discount now nets you the Main Square for the more palatable price of £135.

Inspired by the popular Lego City Adventures TV show, this set features all the iconic places and faces you know from the show. Mayor Fleck can walk out of the town hall building straight into his waiting limo, the city park is all set up for a concert, and the trackless tram is ready to wheel everyone down to the City Burger joint.

Lego Star Wars AT-ST™ Raider

Price: £40 | Buy now from Lego

One of the newer entries into the storied partnership between Star Wars and Lego, this AT-ST Raider kit takes the patchwork walker from The Mandalorian and brings it shambling into your home. Better still, it’s currently discounted by 20%, meaning you can pick one up for just £40.

The walker itself has multiple points of articulation, allowing for a variety of different poses, and features a turnable turret, with room for a pilot to sit in it, as well as two firing shooters. You also get four Minifigures included in the set: two raiders, the tough-as-nails mercenary, Cara Dune, and Mando himself, Din Djarin.

Lego adidas Originals Superstar

Price: £56 | Buy now from Lego

If the Venn diagram of people who enjoy Lego and those that hold footwear close to their heart has you sitting comfortably at the centre, then this is the deal for you. Packed with details, this replica of one of the most iconic shoes in history is currently discounted by 30%, making it an absolute steal.

The traditional shell toe shape is reversible, allowing you to decide whether you want to use the included stand to display a left or right shoe (or you could just buy a second set and have both). Another nice touch is that the set comes in a shoebox, complete with real laces, giving a more authentic feel to the finished model.

What is Lego VIP?

In its most basic form, Lego VIP is a loyalty program that lets you earn points on purchases made either in Lego stores or online, as well as by following Lego on social media or completing short surveys.

Despite the elite-sounding name, anyone can join Lego VIP. All you need to do is head over to the VIP page and click “join online”. If you already have an account, you’ll be prompted to enter your details. Otherwise, you can sign up for one before registering as a VIP.

Every step here, including creating a Lego account and signing up for VIP, is completely free of charge. The only real stipulation is that you must be over 18 years old to shop online. As with any rewards scheme, it doesn’t do much by itself, and you’ll need to actually buy Lego products before you start to see any benefits.

Lego VIP: What does it offer you?

For every £1 that you spend either online or in Lego stores, VIP earns you 8 points – you’ll get sent a VIP card to flash in stores, but you can also earn points virtually using the email address you have for your account. Given how much some of the bigger sets can cost, these points soon add up – and that’s where the rewards come in.

Once accrued, points are displayed in your Rewards Centre on the Lego website. You can also browse all the rewards you can redeem here. Everything from general gift cards and coupons for specific sets, to tickets for various Legoland locations are up for grabs. Most enticing of all though, are the exclusive reward sets only available to VIP members. Rewards are subject to availability and constantly changing, so be sure to check in regularly to make you don’t miss out.
