Save over £150 on the 2019 MacBook Pro with TouchBar

Now just £1,146

Apple laptops aren’t often discounted, so ever modest reductions are worth taking note of for those that prefer to avoid Windows or Chrome OS. And right now at John Lewis, the rather excellent most recent MacBook Pro has a pretty solid discount.
The entry-level 13in MacBook Pro with TouchBar sells for £1,299 at Apple, but can be bought for £1,146 via John Lewis in either space grey or silver. As a reminder, this model ships with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB of SSD storage.
Obviously you can get better specs for cheaper if you’re prepared to look at Windows laptops, but that kind of misses the point of MacBook Pro, which is a beautifully designed machine in its own right with superb build quality and a best-in-class screen.
And while the specs may appear sluggish on a Windows machine, MacOS is a very different beast that means you should find this more than nippy enough – although do be sure that a 128GB SSD is enough for you, as Macs have never allowed you to expand the internal storage.
We haven’t reviewed the 2019 model, which is an internal refresh on the previous edition, but Jon was a big fan of said predecessor. Noting Apple’s many strong selling points, he called the 2018 version “a laptop that’s well worth considering alongside the best the Windows fraternity has to offer.”
Crucially, at £1,146, it’s within touching distance of the 13in MacBook Air which sells for £1,099. Suffice it to say there’s a gulf between the performance of the two, and it’s well worth stretching to the Pro if you can.
If you’ve been umming and ahhing over whether you can justify buying a MacBook Pro, this might be the time to bite the bullet. As I said at the start, Apple discounts don’t come around every day, after all.
