Save £100 on the MacBook Air, and get a free year of Office 365

Free Office 365 makes this a brilliantly portable productivity machine

There was a time when the MacBook Air was one of the cheaper Apple laptops you could buy. That’s no longer the case, with the most recent refresh of the range starting at £1,099 – a price it still sells for on the Apple Store.

Fortunately, others do occasional price cuts, and while they’re still not massive savings compared to similarly equipped Windows PCs, for some only Apple will do. And those people should turn their attention to Argos now, where the company has not only knocked £100 off the entry-level MacBook Air, but has seen fit to throw in a year’s worth of Microsoft Office 365 to boot. Just scroll down to “special offers” and add in the Office 365 bundle (offer valid until 18 February).

For your £999, you’re getting the 2019 i5 model, with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, available in space grey, silver or gold depending on your tastes.

Again, not phenomenal specs for the price, but the MacBook Air is a beautifully made machine, and the nature of MacOS means you don’t necessarily need the beefiest hardware to make it run beautifully.

As Jon wrote in his review, the fact that you can buy something nearly as good for less money isn’t to say the Air is bad by any means. “In fact, it’s quite the opposite,” he wrote. “It’s slim, attractive and beautifully made and Apple has improved it in all the places that count, adding a better keyboard, a superior touchpad, faster connectivity and a Retina display. This is very much a MacBook Air for the modern Apple era.”

Still, it’s undoubtedly not for those that like their money to go further. But for anyone that feels only an Apple laptop will do, then £100 off and a year’s worth of Office 365 certainly sweetens the deal.
