Yoyotech Warbird RS1.3 review

On the front panel, there are two USB ports, along with 3.5mm mic and headphone ports. At the back you’ll find another six USB ports, two of which are USB3. There are also three 3.5mm audio outputs for 5.1 surround sound and PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports. There are HDMI, DVI and VGA outputs for the on-chip graphics.

The PC comes with an AOC e2250Swda, one of our favourite low-cost monitors. The stand doesn’t allow a great range of movement and the screen doesn’t have any extra features to speak of, but it has both VGA and DVI inputs and impressive image quality. In our tests with a colour calibrator, it was able to show 89.3% of the sRGB colour gamut, with a good contrast ratio of 854:1. It’s a fine screen for desktop use and gaming, and just about good enough for colour-sensitive work, although it would be a good idea to calibrate it properly before getting stuck into any serious image editing.

The supplied Gigabyte mouse and keyboard set is nowhere near as good, though. The mouse, although light, works well enough, but the keyboard is awful. Its layout is good for touch typing, but its incredibly light chassis and rattly, unresponsive keys make it hard to type on. We suggest replacing it at the earliest opportunity.

Although we dislike this PC’s keyboard, this is, generally speaking, a quality system that’s well worth £500. The SSD system disk is a nice touch, although we’d have preferred a little more storage space. The Warbird RS1.3 also comes with a good monitor and fast RAM that makes the most of the processor’s on-chip graphics. However, it’s out-gamed by the Eclipse Galaxy A10 R7-250, while the Best Buy-winning Palicomp AMD Kaveri Evolution comes with a larger 24in monitor.
