Echo Dot 5 in CRAZY Prime Day price crash

It’s no surprise to find Amazon’s own ranges front and centre in the Prime Day bargains, but this one made us do a double take: a whopping 60% off the Amazon Echo Dot 5th generation smart speaker, down from £55 to a bonkers £22.

The Echo Dot 5 is no bargain-bin product. It was already superb value when it launched in 2022 at £55, and in our Echo Dot 5th generation review we awarded it the maximum five stars and hailed it as “the best small smart speaker you can buy.” Now at its lowest-ever price, it’s an absolute steal.

As with many Prime Day deals, this one is reserved for Prime members. There’s a free 30-day trial for new users, so we think it’s worth signing up to Prime today to make the most of the bargains on offer. You can always cancel before the trial ends.

Also slashed to more than half price for Prime Day is the Echo Dot with Clock 5th generation. This is the same powerful little speaker as the Echo Dot 5 but adds a digital clock, which displays key information like volume and ambient temperature on demand. Normally £65, the Echo Dot 5 with Clock is now just £32.

Compared with the Echo Dot 4, the headline difference in the 5th generation is improved audio, largely thanks to a bigger speaker (1.73in compared with the previous generation’s 1.6in). This delivers better sound – especially in the bass department – and less distortion at louder volumes.

Other additions include a temperature sensor that you can incorporate in routines, for example by turning on your smart thermostat if the ambient temperature drops too low. The Echo Dot is also now touch-sensitive on top, so you can tap it to silence alarms or pause your music without shouting.
