Amazon is heavily discounting the smallest Echo speaker as part of its spring sale
You can save on an Echo Dot at Amazon right now. The firm’s tiniest smart speaker is normally £50, but has been dropped down to £30 as part of the company’s Spring Sale lineup.

The Echo series of smart speakers, for the unaware, is Amazon’s primary foray into the world of domestic voice assistants. The Dot is a pint-sized version of Amazon’s standard Echo device, offering all of the same functionality in a smaller package.
With compatible devices installed in your home, you can use the Echo Dot to control your lights, heating, and various home electronics like kettles or TVs. Alexa will read you the weather forecast, news, or Google search results: it isn’t perfect, but it’ll do a pretty good job of answering even your most absurd questions.
The Echo Dot also features a 3.5mm audio jack, which means you can hook it up to a more powerful speaker and ask Alexa to play your favourite tunes through your in-home sound system. This isn’t something that Google’s Home Mini – the Dot’s only real competition – can do.
We praised the third-generation Echo Dot for being a vast improvement over its predecessor. The plastic casing has been replaced by a soft fabric, and the hardware upgraded to offer better audio quality. It’s a little chunkier, and a little heavier, but we’re convinced that this is still the best Echo Dot yet.

The deal is expected to last just over a week, and is well worth grabbing while it’s up. Amazon’s Dot is an inexpensive entry into the world of smart speakers at its full price, and at £30 is a total bargain.
