Amazon Echo Show 8: HALF PRICE before it’s even released
Plenty of reason to get your preorder in early
Right now, the Amazon Echo Show 8 is available for £60, which represents a discount of 50% versus the RRP of £120. Why is this so exciting, you ask? Because the Echo Show 8 isn’t actually available yet. Just as the tides rise and fall so too do the prices of Amazon products over Black Friday.
Amazon’s new 8in smart display is the younger sibling of the Echo Show 5, a product we value for its clear display, built-in camera cover and excellent price. Originally announced in September of this year, the Show 8 has a larger screen than its predecessors, but otherwise offers the same set of features.
This means you’ll be able to watch video clips and stream content from the likes of Amazon Prime Video; ask questions of Alexa; catch up on news, weather and traffic reports and display photo albums, among many other things. The front-facing camera will let you jump into video calls over Wi-Fi or via UK landline/mobile numbers with Skype and Vodafone.
As a member of a burgeoning Alexa ecosystem, the Echo Show 8 supports things such as the Ring doorbell, Philips Hue smart bulbs and Hive thermostats. If barking commands at your household appliances is your cup of tea, an Echo Show product is a must-have.
If privacy concerns you, don’t fret: the Echo Show 8 has a built-in camera and microphone disconnect switch so you can prevent Mr. Bezos from watching you cook dinner at the press of a button.
The Amazon Echo Show 8 doesn’t actually launch until 2 December so we’re slightly surprised to see it on offer full stop, let alone for a healthy 50% discount. Obviously, we recommend wasting no time if you’re at all interested in what Amazon is flogging.
