Apple Watch deals: Grab this MASSIVE discount on the Series 6 before it’s too late

The Apple Watch Series 6 GPS (44mm) is currently down to just £259 at John Lewis – but it's reduced to clear

Following the Black Friday deals season, we didn’t think the Apple Watch Series 6 could get any cheaper. Luckily, we were wrong: John Lewis has shaved another chunk off the cost, bringing it down to just £259, its lowest-ever price on record.

On average, the Series 6 GPS 44mm has sold on Amazon for £382, with the current price still hovering around the £360 mark for a lot of the colourways – if they aren’t already sold out. Currys are also selling at the £350 mark, making this deal especially good on the current market.

What’s even better is that you can claim up to £120 if you’re trading in an old Apple Watch to make the purchase, potentially bringing this deal down to just £139. Add in free returns until 28 January 2022, and this is a no-brainer.

After the release of the Apple Watch Series 7 in September, Apple’s previous iteration has been sidelined – and a little unfairly in our opinion. When it launched last year, we labelled it “the best smartwatch you can buy” in our full Apple Watch Series 6 review and for good reason. This is a watch that can do everything, from advanced fitness and health tracking to full-blown communication via call or message.

The Series 6 was the first Apple Watch to introduce sleep and SpO2 (blood oxygen level) tracking technology into the mix. It’s a bit late to the party considering other smartwatches have had it for years, but the sleep tracking is well thought through. Apple’s implementation ties it into a special bedtime mode that includes setting a daily alarm and a target number of hours for sleep, plus choosing a wind-down period.

As for SpO2 levels, we found it to be well implemented and could be especially useful to help realise that you’re unwell, even if you’re asymptomatic, given Coronavirus is still raging and can quietly starve the body of oxygen.

This is in addition to all the fitness and health features you expect, like heart rate monitoring and GPS (with an improved altimeter that’s always on), and even others you don’t like motion-sensing sensitive enough to detect falls and an ECG sensor for irregular heartbeat rhythms.

Packaged into an AMOLED screen that is 1.78in across on the 44mm model, you get to enjoy these features on a sleek device that now uses a brighter, always-on display – improving considerably on the Series 5 – that can be visible in even the brightest of sunlight.

We thought all of this was worth it even when the Series 6 was selling for a bumper price of £379. So, with the Series 7 currently retailing at an even higher cost – now at £400 for the same wrist size – the Series 6 is a great option now at a fantastic price. If you’re even slightly considering a smartwatch, it makes sense to take the plunge on a huge discount while stocks last.

If you want to see what the competition has in store, we’ve written all about the best smartwatches to buy right now – although you’re unlikely to find a deal as good as this.
