Forget the MacBook: This Huawei MateBook D 15 Prime Day deal is unmissable
Don't waste money on a wallet-busting Apple laptop – the MateBook D 15 does everything you need for MUCH less
The Huawei MateBook D 15 is one of our all-time favourite cheap laptops, and right now, it’s even cheaper. Until midnight on 14 October, Amazon Prime members can enjoy savings of up to £100 on Huawei’s flagship-beating large-screen laptop, with the high-end AMD Radeon 7 model coming in at the exact same price as the lowest-spec model at £549 – down from an average of £649.
If it wasn’t clear, that’s astonishing value for money. the MateBook D 15 is an ultraportable laptop with a huge 15in display and enough power to put much more expensive products to shame. We gave it five stars and a Best Buy award: our reviewer Tim Danton found very little to complain about, describing the Matebook D 15 as “a good quality laptop for a low price.” Not one for embellishment, our Tim.
The specifications tell a more dramatic story. An all-metal chassis (unusual for a product of this price) encases an AMD Radeon 7 CPU, paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of speedy SSD storage. Open the lid and you’ll find an enormous trackpad with equally large keyboard keys that actuate with minimal noise; above that, a 15in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) display with slim border bezels and an 87% screen-to-body ratio.
Or, in simpler terms: these are the specifications of a much, much more expensive laptop. There are certainly cutbacks – the battery life, while acceptable at 6 hours, could definitely be better – but as Tim points out, “Huawei had to compromise somewhere.” And yes, it runs Windows 10 and will receive updates in the future.
You might be considering a more expensive laptop – such as the Surface Laptop 3, which is currently on sale for a cool £220 saving at Amazon – but you’re no doubt apprehensive about handing over the cash, even if there are discounts galore on Amazon at the minute.
