The Fitbit Ionic is going crazy cheap right now at Amazon

Amazon knocks £100 off the top-of-the-range Fitbit

The Fitbit Ionic is a great wearable for those that want all the bells and whistles of a smartwatch, but also want to keep the friendly competition of the Fitbit community. It has built-in heart-rate tracking and GPS, and even lets you pay for things using contactless payments if your bank is supported.

The only thing preventing us recommending it more freely is the price. With an RRP of £300, it’s in Apple Watch territory, which is a bit rich for most people’s blood, no matter how good it is.

Not so right now. Amazon has slashed a third off the price of the Fitbit Ionic in black/grey, blue/white and orange/slate colours, meaning you can get the super watch for £199. Only the ink blue/ice grey model doesn’t get the discount, hovering stubbornly at the £255.81 mark. The last price aside, that brings it in line with the cheaper and less feature-packed Fitbit Versa.

As Ed’s review concludes, this price makes it a lot more appealing. “If Fitbit had priced this around the £200 mark, I’d be perfectly happy to recommend it, purely because it’s a great-looking fitness tracking smartwatch with battery life to die for.

“As it is, the £300 price puts it firmly into Apple Watch Series 3 and Samsung Gear S3 territory – and it’s nowhere near the all-rounder that those watches are. That’s a shame because there’s great potential here.”

At £200, the Fitbit Ionic finally gets Ed’s seal of approval. But we’re not sure how long for, so if you’re tempted then it’s best to pop it in your cart and check out quickly.
