Save £40 on the 46mm Samsung Galaxy Watch in the Boxing Day sales

Samsung’s exciting new wearable is going cheap post Christmas

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch has stuck stubbornly to its original price since release. Sure, Samsung has given away freebies with it, but those just looking to save a few bob have been out of luck. Until now, that is.

Right now, Appliances Direct has the Bluetooth version of the 46mm Samsung Galaxy Watch for £259 – a saving of £40 on its normal £299 RRP. Brilliantly, that means the larger watch undercuts the smaller 42mm model, which has an RRP of £279, although Appliances Direct does have the rose gold colour available for under £250 as well.

If you’re here, you probably already know why the Samsung Galaxy Watch is so good, but I’ll give you a recap anyway. It’s Samsung’s latest smartwatch, which means it not only looks the part, but comes packed with apps making it an extension of your phone. You’ll get notifications straight through to your wrist without you even needing to lift your phone from your pocket.

Navigation is a combination of touch, and Samsung’s rather clever rotating bezel which helps you pick out icons on the tiny but sharp 360×360 1.3in AMOLED screen. Rather than embracing Google’s Wear OS software, the Galaxy Watch uses Samsung’s own Tizen, which is not only maturing into a very nice wearable operating system, but also contributes to the device’s stellar battery life, which lasts the best part of a week without needing a charge.

As Ed wrote in his review: “Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Watch improves on the Gear S3 in every conceivable way. Battery life, in particular, is stellar and the watch also fills adds the only significant hole in the Gear S3’s feature set – swim tracking. Bar a few annoying bugs, there’s very little reason not to buy the Galaxy Watch. It’s excellent.”

The only criticism he could find was that there isn’t too much difference between this and its predecessor, the Gear S3. But with this Boxing Day discount, that drawback no longer applies.
