We’re well into Amazon Prime Day by now, yet the discounts keep on rolling in. Smartwatches are enjoying quite a bit of attention this year – you can currently get up to a third off Garmin watches, with the fabulous Garmin Vivoactive 3 cut to an all-time low price.
Not to be outdone, Fitbit is also participating in the Prime Day fun: the Fitbit Versa 2 is currently down to a new low price at just £130 for Prime members. If you’re not signed up to Amazon Prime, then all these deals will be closed off to you; not to worry, though, as you can sign up to a free 30-day trial that’s easily cancelled when Prime Day is over.
Fitbit’s Versa smartwatch helped keep the brand on the map in the increasingly competitive wearables market, and with three instalments plus the Fitbit Versa Lite, it’s still going strong.
Naturally, the Versa 3 outshone its predecessor by finally introducing GPS – a must-have feature for many smartwatch users – as well as other little additions such as Google Assistant.
The Fitbit Versa 2, on the other hand, must be paired with your smartphone, which some may view as a bit of an inconvenience. Nevertheless, it’s still deserving of the four-star rating it received when it was reviewed last year. It comes with a great set of features including the usual array of fitness-tracking functionality (steps, distance, heart rate and so forth) plus voice command support via Alexa and Fitbit Pay (if that’s your cup of tea).
It also looks lovely and is surprisingly sleek considering that it’s actually 50% thicker than the average smartphone. The upgrade from LCD to OLED allows for more pronounced colour contrast, as well as introducing an ‘always-on display’ mode and improved battery life when compared to the original Versa.
Understandably, the lack of in-built GPS will be a letdown for many. But for those who won’t go anywhere without their trusty smartphone, the Versa 2 remains an excellent fitness smartwatch made all the more appealing by this Prime Day deal.
