This Xbox One S deal is ridiculously good value
A console plus two controllers for cheaper than ever
Right now, you can buy an Xbox One S with two controllers for £180, saving you a very respectable £70. In a sea of tiringly similar Xbox One S Black Friday deals, this one stands out as particularly good value, particularly if you’re the sort of gamer who enjoys a bit of couch co-op.
This deal is an Amazon exclusive, available from today until midnight on Cyber Monday. The regular price of £250 is already marginally cheaper than buying the console (around £209) and an extra controller (around £45); with this offer applied, it becomes even better value, and even harder to ignore.
By now, I’m sure you know what an Xbox One S is. For those who have just come out from under a rock, however, the One S is the second of four Xbox One consoles to have launched since 2014. It’s smaller, slimmer and cheaper than its predecessor (the standard Xbox One), offering exactly the same set of features and improving upon the formula in a few key ways.
Other than playing games, the Xbox One S can play 4K HDR Blu-ray films, and access all manner of streaming services, including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, All 4, Prime Video, NowTV and many others.
If you do want to play games – and you really should – you’ll need a couple of subscriptions. The first is to Xbox Live Gold, which grants you access to online play (so you can enjoy a bit of split-screen Call of Duty) and deposits a few free games on your figurative doorstep every month.
The second is Xbox Game Pass. As it happens, new subscribers can nab three months for a mere £1 right now thanks to the deal-y goodness of Black Friday. With it, you’ll have access to an ever-growing library of over 100 games, including a few of the most recent titles.
