You'll have to buy it in lilac, but we've never seen the Vertuo Pop cheaper than this

When it comes to the best coffee machine deals, there are always plenty of pod machines on offer. And during this year’s Amazon’s Spring Deal Days sale, there’s no shortage of Nespresso deals vying for your attention.

For my money, your best bet is the Nespresso Vertuo Pop, which you can currently get for £50 (down from an average price of £79). Word of warning, you’ll have to buy the lilac version. But at this price, it’s a no brainer.

It’s been quite a while since we reviewed the Vertuo Pop, but it remains one of our favourite budget Nespresso machines: we gave it a four-star review and an Expert Reviews Recommended award.

Measuring just 13.6 x 42.6 x 25cm (WDH) , it’s a compact machine with a cute design that looks lovely on a kitchen counter without taking up lots of space. It launched at £99 and, to date, it’s still Nespresso’s smallest – and cheapest – machine.

But does it make good coffee? In short, yes it does. It can pour four different drink sizes – espresso (40ml), double espresso (80ml), gran lungo (120ml) and mug (230ml) – and it’s super easy to use: there’s just one button, and the machine will read the capsule’s barcode to automatically determine how much to pour.

One of the biggest draws of a Nespresso Vertuo machine is the brand’s vast range of capsules. There are over 40 Vertuo pods of varying sizes and flavours, as well as limited edition options.

Whether you prefer a punchy ristretto or something a bit sweeter, such as Golden Caramel or Pistachio Vanilla, there’s something for everyone. You’ve also got plenty of decaf options, as well as “Coffee+” pods that are supplemented with extra caffeine or vitamins.

To reiterate, the Nespresso Vertuo Pop is currently £50, down from an average price of £79. Here at Expert Reviews, we’ve never seen it cheaper than this. And considering it’s already a budget-friendly machine when it isn’t discounted, it’s a bargain when it is.

There is, however, one caveat, which I mentioned above. It’s only the lilac model that you can get for this price. Other variants will cost you around £64, which is a shame for those that would rather have a more understated black or white machine. However, I’d argue that the more vibrant colour choices are a large part of the Vertuo Pop’s appeal, and they definitely suit its rounded and compact design.

If you’re not convinced by a lilac Vertuo Pop, there are plenty of other coffee machines on offer during Amazon’s Spring Deal Days sale. If you’re shopping for a capsule machine, consider the Nespresso Vertuo Next at £69 (avg £124). Alternatively, the Lavazza A Modo Mio Jolie Evo is cheaper than both Vertuo machines at £45 (avg £75). The selection of capsules it works with is much more limited, however.
