The Apple Watch Series 3 is at its cheapest ever this Prime Day

Grab a bargain on a beautiful smartwatch this Prime Day

The Apple Watch Series 3 is a much-lauded thing of beauty. Mirroring Apple’s clean-lined, universally recognisable iPhone aesthetic, the 38mm Apple Watch looks sleek adorning any wrist. Physically, it’s a light wear, though it has accrued a weighty reputation as a status symbol.

Discounts on Apple products are famously hard to come by – so we were gratified to see the Apple Watch Series 3 get a tidy £30 off this Prime Day. Formerly retailing at £197, you can snap one up for a meagre £169, a phenomenal price for a high-spec smartwatch we gave an impressive five stars in our full-length review.

Design-wise, the Apple Watch Series 3 delights, with responsive taps, swipes, twiddles and presses on the Digital Crown and side button. It’s got a commendable battery life to boot – a 4% boost on the Series 2 at a capacity of 279mAh. In practice, we found this can mean up to two days of battery life from the device – more if it’s not being used as an exercise tracker.

But used as an exercise tracker it should be, with its focus on health and fitness. Take the activity tracker emulated from the Series 2, with its focus on steps and movement – and prodding you into steps and movement. Things get a bit more intense with the Workout app, which has more of an emphasis on high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and fitness-engendering cousins. With its altimeter it’s able to monitor the flights of stairs you climb per day, and its waterproof seal means it can be used in the swimming pool.

Another focus area for the Series 3 is your heart; like its predecessors it measures BPM, but also logs your average walking speed and post-workout recovery, allowing you to chart your heart’s progression over the day.
