Back in October, we reported that Amazon had announced a refreshed lineup of televisions, along with the cheapest 4K entry in its range of Fire TV sticks.
After a prolonged wait, its new TVs are now available to buy from the retail giant’s website, and, as per usual, they’re competitively priced. And, with introductory offers running until 10 February, they’re actually a bit of a steal.
Amazon Fire TV 2-Series: The FHD option
Let’s start with the entry-level Fire TV 2-Series, which is an HD model available in 32in and 40in screen sizes. The smaller option has an RRP of £250, but can currently be picked up for £150, while the introductory offer on the larger model sees its price cut from £300 to £190. Of course, Amazon’s products get loads of discounts throughout the year – most notably during Prime Day and Black Friday sales – but we’re unlikely to see lower prices than this until the spring.
Amazon Fire TV 4-Series: The entry-level 4K model
The 4-Series, which is Amazon’s cheapest 4K resolution model, is available in three sizes: 43in, 50in and 55in. These two are subject to introductory offers that see the 43in priced at £260 (RRP £430), the 50in costing £300 (£500 RRP), and the 55in option available for £360 (£550 RRP).
The noteworthy changes to these models are as follows: slimmer bezels for a more refined appearance, 30% faster processing thanks to a new quad-core chip, and OmniSense technology, which uses AI to finetune your experience with the TVs.
Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED: Harnessing the power of quantum dots
Amazon’s new Fire TV Omni QLED gets a more impactful upgrade in the form of a significant brightness boost. Amazon says its display it 60% brighter than the previous generation, and has twice the number of local dimming zones. It also houses a new processor, which is reportedly 40% nippier than the one found in the 2023 model that we gave five stars and a Recommended award.
The pricing for the three sizes of the new Omni QLED is as follows: 50in (£420 vs RRP £650), 55in (£480 vs RRP £750) and 65in (£730 vs RRP £1,050).
All of the above TVs come with Dialogue Boost, a new feature that, yep, you guessed it, seeks to improve the clarity of speech while you’re watching shows and movies.
We’ll be looking to test Amazon’s latest television offerings in the coming weeks and months, so make sure you check back to see how they stack up to the competition.
