Ignore Roomba deals: Our favourite robot vacuum is going cheap on Amazon

The Neato D5 Connected vacuum cleaner is perfect for people who want to put their feet up

As somebody who is at this point essentially half man, half cat hair, I’m increasingly seeing the value of robot vacuum cleaners, and have been putting my research into making sure I get the right model. And while you may be scouring for Roomba deals in the runup to Christmas, a far better solution is actually right under your nose: say hello to the Neato Botvac D5 Connected, heavily reduced at Amazon.

It sits proudly in our ‘best robot vacuum cleaner roundup’. The D5 Connected typically sells for £599 but is £329.99 until 22 December.

It’s not the top-of-the-range model: that’s the D7 Connected, but given that goes for £350 more at the moment, it’s a big step up. So, what’s the difference between them? I asked the man who put them through their paces for our in-depth reviews, Jonathan Bray, and was told that the chief difference is that the D7 allows you to set ‘no-go areas’ in your house within the app, making sure the vacuum doesn’t go where it’s not welcome. As a model that’s a bit newer, it also has a “more efficient blower,” apparently, but otherwise it’s identical: same capacity, same motor and same drive gears. Even the Alexa integration, once unique to the D7 Connected, has been patched into the D5 Connected.

Bear in mind that these are our top-rated robot vacuum cleaners even at full price: with almost 50% off the D5, it’s an absolute steal.
